Weight Loss/Body Image

When it comes to weight loss, there's no shortage of diet plans. Learn from others as they share their successes and failures. Sometimes it just takes knowing someone is with you for the journey.

Body image and weight loss/Two very big components with ED. If a person looks in one direction the government is trying to work on obesity. (Are we entering the age of Socialism??) Weight is a very personal thing and those who need help often cannot get it. However, a person can bury themselves in being overweight , underweight, or look like they do not havea problem (usually bulima). I believe more strongly that the break down of the family system, the media who put the too skinny models out there to look as the norm, our support system that either end of the spectrum is not good ie being overweight, being underweight, or just not being good enough. The extremes are tied to the perfectism, OCD, high anxiety, low self esteem. Reseach show that ED are more genetic than we have thought. Thus to accept ourselves while working on our values to motivate us instead of our emotion would lead to a more harmonious outcome.

Its very different for a person with a eating disorder to unravel any of the good intentions people have--"why can't you just eat that" or why can't you just eat and keep it down." This seems so superficial to many people. A person with an eatng disorder thinking is so not about the food; its about never being good enough, never quite measuring up to anyone else, never feeling good unless their stomach is empty, and what is so painful to me is that ED (short for eating disorder) can take over their lives and take their life. I believe depression play a large role in this--this would be a great research topic, and a positive way to funnel creative energies. :) to all!!

I just want to throw a peice of information out there that I hope is helpful to you: What you eat accounts for 80% of your body makeup. The common saying "you are what you eat" is 100% true. Eat clean (nothing artificial) 90% of the time, and your body will react in a way that will make you happy, no matter your current situation. I have been eating clean for 5 years, lost 30 pounds and have kept the weight off. Yay for the simple solution :)
