ActivityRank: 6 I smoked heavily for 33 years and only tried to quit ONCE, it worked. I just knew physically, socially and financially that I needed to quit. I went for 7 days to a non-smoking enviroment, actually to be a caregiver to my mom after surgery. I took red licorice sticks and lots of activities with me, I am not good with failure and I succeeded. It was by far the best thing I ever did for myself, can not stand the smell now or being around smoking and have never been tempted for over five years. |

Deboswell--did you gain weight after you quit? And if not, do you have
any suggestions for others on how not to gain weight?

Yeah I gained but only about 8lbs due to that...have fought weight issues all
my life so was not surprised to gain some, the increase in lung capacity was
slow but came which helped with cardio and loosing or maintaining...life
happens, my dr felt the weight was less crucial than the 8lbs....I did
sugarless lifesavers and things like that but tried to not overdue the
substitutes, tried to keep my hands busy.. |
