I am in my early 20's and my family is going through a lot these past two years about financial problem. These year it seems our problem worsened. I am worried about how my parents handles the problem, they grew weaker than before and they lose already some weight. I can sense the negative vibes around the house which is not usual for me since we were a happy family. I'm on the look for jobs right now to help them. But what concerns me more is their health. I already told them to take every problems lightly and that we should pray for God's guidance. Nonetheless, they still looked depress and sick. I wonder what can I do more to radiate my positive vibes to them.

First of all, Mao, I am really sorry you're going through such a tough time. It sounds like you and your parents are dealing with a lot of loss. All you can do is encourage your parents to take care of themselves and see a medical professional. As you probably know, all we can do is suggest healthy alternatives to the ones we love and the rest is up to them.

The other thing you can do is take care of yourself. So I'll just ask you how you're doing in terms of self care? Are you taking time for yourself? Are you feeling healthy in body, mind and spirit? If not, please get the help you need whether that means going to see a doctor or therapist or coach or talking to a trusted friend.

You sound like a loving daughter. And it sounds like you are doing all you can to help your parents. But don't forget to take care of yourself, in the process.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mao-

There are a lot of people going through similar situations these days.  If anything, you can rest in the fact that you are not alone.  I know this doesn't help your parents health, but it may give you some much needed support as you try to encourage your parents through this difficult time.

I would encourage you to try and focus on the quality time you can spend together as a family that would help take their minds off of their troubles. Fortunately, quality time is free and there can be an abundance of it if you make it a priority.  The biggest benefit of quality time is it can be a big stress reliever and reducing stress can have a positive impact on our health.

You can spend time together at the park, playing games, working on a family meal together or get involved in a community project helping others.  Be creative on how you all can enjoy your time together without worrying about money.

Here are some sites below that may help stir some ideas.  Some of these are geared toward families with younger children, but I think you could make it work for your situation.  I hope this helps.
