I had an abdominal hysterectomy last year around this time of year and was laid up for over 2 months of the summer recovering from it. I sure wish I would've known about this procedure! Is it covered by insurance?
Wow! Who knew?
I've had a number of friends get normal hysterectomies and a tummy tuck at the same time. Is it possible to get a tummy tuck at the same time you have this procedure done? Just curious. Thanks.
Now you tell me!
I've been trying to answer all the emails coming in and suspect there are a number of you wanting to know how to get a hold of the doctors at MetroHealth who are doing this new procedure. The number there Is: 216-778-5890. Please do not hesitate to ask questions here, as well.
First.. Great Job Chris.. you look great! Thanks for sharing.

Sarah Hollander -- Patients can often have plastic surgery at the same time. In fact, I use techniques learned from plastic surgery on the belly button to make sure we hide the scar well. That being said, a tummy tuck is not a painless procedure. I suspect the recovery from the tummy tuck would be more painful than the actual hysterectomy.
MM2 -- Yes, insurance covers this type of procedure just like any other hysterectomy. The point of the single port laparoscopy approach is that we still do the same type of surgery (hysterectomy, ovarian cysts, whatever). It is just all through one small hole now!
MM2 - Insurance covers these procedures just as they would conventional laparoscopic hysterectomy or vaginal hysterectomy. Remember, the great thing is that we are doing the same procedure "on the inside." It's just that we now have the tools to do this through one small incision.
This video should be on a bulletin board in Times Square so that every woman knows about it. Great information to know that I intend to share with every woman I know. Thanks.
WomanToWoman--thank you for your enthusiastic endorsement and thank you for helping us spread the word on this new procedure.
